Resurfacing Project to Begin Next Week on Route 997 (Anthony Highway) in Franklin County

04/18/2024

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a 4.75-mile resurfacing project will begin next week on Route 997 in Quincy, Guilford, and Greene townships. The project limits are from the West Branch of Antietam Creek just north of Mont Alto Borough, through the Village of Pond Bank, to the intersection with Route 30.

Work will be performed during daylight hours. There will be short-term lane restrictions under flagging during work hours from 8:30 AM until nightfall through the construction season. An oversize load restriction will be in place.

This is a resurfacing project which consists of full width milling, base repair, drainage replacement, guide rail updates, ADA curb ramp construction, asphalt paving, line painting, sign updates, and other miscellaneous construction on Route 997 from Mont Alto to Route 30.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.

This is also a notice that a proposed 3-day road closure and detour for Route 997 may be necessary so that a drainage pipe can be replaced. PennDOT will issue an announcement when this work is scheduled.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $ 2,101,331 project. All work is expected to be completed by October 25, 2024.
