Secretary Blinken’s Meeting with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Riyadh. The Secretary and Prime Minister Al Thani discussed the ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza leading to the release of hostages held by Hamas. The Secretary thanked the Prime Minister for the central role Qatar has undertaken in these endeavors and emphasized the need for Hamas to accept the significant proposal that is on the table. Secretary Blinken also underscored our shared commitment to continuing to increase and sustain the provision of life-saving humanitarian assistance into Gaza. The Secretary and Prime Minister Al Thani reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Qatar bilateral relationship and its role in promoting regional security and stability.
