Inauguration of the T12 in Essonne: Dorsalys integrates the tram-train's information systems for Île-de-France mobilités

The T12 tram-train between Évry-Courcouronnes and Massy-Palaiseau opened last Sunday in the north of Essonne, with 20.4 km of track and 16 stations. The SNCF-operated line is connected to the RER B, C and D lines, as well as to a number of bus routes serving the region's business centres. The T12 runs on the former RER C national rail network between Massy-Palaiseau and Épinay-sur-Orge, then in urban areas on tramway-specific tracks to Évry-Courcouronnes. As the second order under the same framework agreement, our Dorsalys experts carried out the same type of work for the T12 as for the T13, which is due to enter service in 2022.

"We carried out the work, testing and commissioning of the central systems at the Massy-Palaiseau centralised control centre. In other words, we installed all the IT servers used to display information on the operator stations and the video wall located in the Massy-Palaiseau control room. We also installed and commissioned the low-voltage equipment at the 16 passenger stations: computer network cabinets, sound systems, video protection, feedback on the state of the installations, etc. And we also commissioned the LED screens dedicated to passenger information", explains Vincent Richard, Activities Manager.

The tram-train, which emits no greenhouse gases or particulates, has a 6.5 km pedestrian-bicycle lane (between Viry-Châtillon and Évry-Courcouronnes) to facilitate intermodality. Encouraged to leave their cars in the garage, the 40,000 commuters expected to use the T12 every day will thus be contributing to the collective effort to reduce our carbon footprint.

The inaugural journey of the T12 took place on Saturday 9 December in the presence of representatives of all the players1 involved in the project. Events were held throughout the day, inside the tram-train and in the stations.
