PR No. 283 Narowal Science Fair 2024 Inspiring Young Students to Become Scientists

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal participated as a special guest in the ongoing science fair at University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Narowal Campus. The students of different departments of the university presented their final year projects for exhibition at the Innovation Center of the University of Engineering and Technology sub-campus Narowal. The projects exhibited by the students of various departments including electrical, mechanical, civil, bio-medical engineering, computer engineering were inspected by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal. Students of various universities including Agriculture University Faisalabad, UMT Sialkot Campus, ITU University of Narowal, Veterinary University Narowal Campus participated in the ongoing Science Fair at UET Narowal Campus. Later, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal handed over the new buses provided to the University of Engineering and Technology Narowal Campus to the university administration and also planted a sapling in the university. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal also participated in the prize distribution ceremony in the seminar hall of UET Narowal Campus. Speaking on this occasion, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal said "UET Narowal Campus was my dream which I have worked hard to achieve." Behind the development of the modern world is the hard work of engineers, he he added. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives said that the solution of most of the problems of all sectors of life, including health, food, and industry is related to the field of engineering. Behind all the progress in today's world is the hard work of engineers, he further added. Federal Minister said that today we are living in the era of technology, today's era is the era of artificial intelligence. Universities want to enlighten engineers to the sciences according to the modern requirements of this era. He said that if you want to establish your place in the world of education and research, you need to go through the process of continuous learning. We have established departments like National Center for Satellite Technology, National Center for Nanotechnology, National Center for Quantum Computing, he added. Ahsan Iqbal said that we gave billions of rupees to engineering universities to equip their laboratories with modern equipments to lay the foundation for innovation and creativity. He said that our children should focus on innovation. Our history is full of great scientists in the sciences. "Ever since the fountain of research has dried up in our society, we have been left behind", he said. Embellish your intellect with the attributes mentioned in the Holy Quran, he said. But unfortunately, today the space missions of the 6 countries have successfully completed their missions. There is not a single Muslim among them, he further added. Federal Minister said, "When our forefathers used to think intellectually, then we were sharing knowledge with the world, but today we depend on copy and paste. Ahsan Iqbal further added that the aim of establishing this university was to lead the innovation movement in Pakistan, hence the innovation center has been established here and the Bill Gates of the future will be born from you. Federal Minister said that today's era is an era beyond the acquisition of a degree, emphasizing that in this race of life only those will win who will make hard work and thoughtfulness their motto. He said that after 25 years from today, two countries of this region will celebrate their hundred years of independence - Pakistan and India. "We should be prepared for that time and reflect on why we made efforts to achieve this country. We have to convert our dreams into reality." Sharing his dream of establishing UET Narowal Campus, Minister expressed, "When I dreamed of a University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Narowal, people could not believe how it was possible and the realization of that dream is front of you today." "Today 7000 boys and girls are getting higher education sitting at their home in University of Narowal, you too can realize your dreams, all you need is hard work," he said. Federal Minister urged the nation to work in unity to resolve the problems of Pakistan. He stated that today's era is the era of teamwork. No nation in the world is successful until it works in unity. "I pray that Allah Almighty will make this institution a successful institution of Pakistan," he added.
