Cruise Ship Season Begins May 5

The City of St. John's together with the St. John's Port Authority and industry partners, look forward to an exciting and busy 2024 cruise season.

The Phoenix Reisen Amera is the first ship scheduled to arrive in St. John's on May 5, with approximately 900 passengers. In total, there are 40 scheduled visits from 18 cruise lines scheduled to arrive between the months of May and October, with more than 54,000 passengers expected to visit the City of St. John's.

"We're thrilled to kick off the 2024 cruise season in St. John's, welcoming passengers from around the world to experience the beauty and charm of our city," said Councillor Jill Bruce. "Cruise operations not only benefit our economy but also showcase the best of what St. John's has to offer."

St. John's is quickly becoming an internationally preferred cruise destination. A wide variety of cruise lines include the Port of St. John's on their cruise itineraries as both a home port and in-transit port of call. The port regularly welcomes cruise vessels on itineraries travelling on trans-Atlantic (North), Adventure Expedition, Canada-New England and/or home-porting itineraries.

Cruise ship arrivals and departures are subject to various factors including marine conditions and ships' schedules. They may be cancelled or postponed at any time, without notice, due to unforeseen circumstances. For the most up-to-date information on cruise ships coming to the City of St. John's, please call the Cruise Line at 709-576-8333.

The public is reminded that parking is limited on Harbour Drive during cruise ship visits to accommodate tour operators and other passenger transportation. However, alternate parking remains available in other areas throughout the Downtown. Alternate parking options include parking garages and lots. It is important to note the parking restrictions in these areas as they may differ from City restrictions or other locations.

The Visitor Information Centre, located at 348 Water Street, will open for the season on Monday, May 6.
