Temporary relocation of Chobham fire station as redevelopment works start

Chobham Fire Station will be relocating to Woking in Spring 2024 as essential development works start at the on-call station.

The crew and all equipment will be based at nearby Woking Fire Station from April and during the construction period which is due to last for approximately one year.

This relocation follows a project of work carried out by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) to establish the most viable location with least impact to communities and staff.

Surrey County Council is investing in the rebuild of Chobham Fire Station to update and modernise facilities, and to adapt to the evolving needs of our workforce. The redevelopment will improve our capacity to ensure community safety and address current and emerging risks.

Chief Fire Officer at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), Dan Quin, said: "We are delighted that work will soon be underway to make the necessary improvements to Chobham Fire Station, thanks to the investment of Surrey County Council. The proposed relocation means we can continue to deliver services to the local communities in Chobham and Woking. We will monitor the relocation to ensure that it is working well and having a positive impact on communities."

Kevin Deanus, Cabinet Member for Fire and Rescue, and Resilience said: "The redevelopment of Chobham Fire Station is an important investment. I'd like to thank SFRS staff, residents and the communities of Chobham and Woking for their support with this piece of work."
