April 20, 2021Penn State Health Daily Brief

Essential employees of Holy Spirit Medical Center, Shared Services and Penn State Health Medical Group Community Practice Division sites that were formerly part of Holy Spirit or their housemates who are symptomatic and require testing during the weekend and holidays must do the following:

  • Call their manager if calling off work, per policy. If the employee fails the Penn State Health Employee Screening Tool by having any COVID-19 symptoms that can't be attributed to another medical condition, they should not report to work:
    • Cough
    • Short of breath
    • Difficulty breathing
    • Fever of 100 degrees or higher
    • Fatigue
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • New body or muscle aches
    • New headache
    • New sore throat
    • Loss of taste or smell
    • New diarrhea (more than 3 loose or liquid stools per day)
    • Nausea and vomiting
  • For employees deemed essential who are scheduled to work in the next 48 hours, the manager or supervisor should call the urgent care testing site at 717-763-3730, inform them they are a Holy Spirit supervisor and request COVID-19 testing for the employee or housemate. The manager or supervisor must provide the employee or housemate's name, date of birth and phone number and email Employee Health.
  • Managers or supervisors should instruct all other employees to call 717-763-3730, option 4, to schedule a COVID-19 test at Penn State Health Urgent Care, 431 N. 21st St., Camp Hill.

Important considerations:

  • Employees who have had both doses of their vaccine and are between two weeks and six months past the second dose do not need to quarantine if exposed or living with a COVID-19-positive person, unless they are symptomatic.
  • Employee Health will call employees on Mondays with their test results. Only the Employee Health nurse can give the employee their results or clear them to return to work.
  • Employees who say they were cleared by the Employee Health nurse to return to work but do not feel well should follow normal illness policies and processes.
