Science Under the Scope: Post-COVID Inflammatory Syndrome in Children

During the late spring and summer of 2020 an alarming trend began to emerge in children who had experienced, and recovered from, COVID-19 infection. This trend was a late-onset inflammatory syndrome that landed most sufferers in hospital intensive care units and led to the deaths of several hundred children across the country. The mystery inflammatory disease, later named MIS-C, even occurs in children who were asymptomatic during infection.
