Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has reacted to statements by some Western officials about suspicious poisonings at a number of schools in Iran. Kanaani said the government's immediate priorities are to pursue the matter, determine the cause of the poisonings as soon as possible, give substantiated and regular updates on the result of probes in order to dispel the concerns of families, and hold the perpetrators and orchestrators of the poisonings to account. He noted that organizations that are responsible for the investigations are looking into the poisonings with seriousness and great care.
Kanaani added that the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to follow the matter to establish the cause of the poisonings and identify the perpetrators of this suspicious incident.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that at the same time, the hasty, bizarre and showy reaction of some foreign officials to the poisonings is part of their continued meddlesome and politically-motivated stance that they have adopted over the past year.
Kanaani said Iran is warning against any abuse of humanitarian issues for the purpose of achieving political goals.
He underlined that some countries which have long list of human rights violations against the Iranian people on their dark record themselves stand accused of rights abuses. Kanaani stressed that such countries had better stop making showy and meddling statements about the issue.
