Hakob Arshakyan Participates in Investor’s Day for IT Sector Event

On March 11, the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan delivered a welcome speech at the Investor's Day for the IT Sector event at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex.

Welcoming the participants, Hakob Arshakyan spoke about the latest developments in the IT sector. According to him, in 2022, for the first time in the history of Armenia, a circulation of more than 1 billion dollars was recorded in the sphere of high-tech industry. The number of employees in the sector exceeded 40 thousand for the first time.

Touching upon the activity of Enterprise Armenia, the NA Vice President highlighted the structure support in the issues of investment support and involvement of such organizations in our country. "We welcome the access of international organizations to Armenia, which contributes to the creation of similar Armenian companies," Hakob Arshakyan underscored.

The speaker referred to the increase in funding for science, mentioning that it is more than 30 billion AMD. "This means that a creative person engaged in science has a priority role for the development of Armenia," Hakob Arshakyan noted.

In order to overcome the challenges in the changing and developing geopolitical environment, the NA Vice President urged to join forces to train high-quality specialists.

The RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan, the RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Robert Khachatryan, the Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Armenia Investment Support Center Levon Ohanesyan, the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Kristina Kvien also gave speeches during the event. They referred to the sector problems and outlined ways to solve them.

From the viewpoint of the sector development, the effective cooperation between the business sector and state bodies has been highlighted. The necessity of training new specialists in the sphere was emphasized, the reforms aimed at improving the operating conditions of the IT sector companies were highlighted.

Then, in the format of panel discussions, the issue of our country's workforce in the sphere, the quality of education in some professions, as well as the problems of implementing general data protection regulations were addressed.
