Cameron University Foundation establishes endowed scholarship honoring H. Glenn Williams

The Cameron University Foundation has established the H. Glenn Williams Endowed Scholarship for Criminal Justice, honoring Cameron alumnus H. Glenn "Herky" Williams. The endowment was made possible by his wife, Dr. Anne Williams, and daughter, Katherine Williams.

Williams attended Cameron State Agricultural College in the early 1960s before serving briefly in the U.S. Air Force. After returning to Lawton, he returned to Cameron University in the mid-1970s for law enforcement coursework related to his career as a member of the Lawton Police Department. Upon his retirement as a lieutenant in January 1987, Williams worked as a private investigator, in sales for AVC (Tandy Corporation) and subsequently as a teacher at Great Plains Technology Center.

Williams raised quarter horses and rode with the Lawton Rangers for several years. He started playing golf at the age of 50 and was really happy when he shot his age in August 2022 for the second time.

He was involved in FFA when his daughter Staci participated in the organization, and then volunteered with Lawton Community Theater, running the lights and sound boards, when his daughter Katherine was involved in the organization's theatrical productions.

Following a seven-year battle with bone marrow cancer, he passed away in November 2022.

The H. Glenn Williams Endowed Scholarship for Criminal Justice will benefit full-time CU students who are majoring in criminal justice. The scholarship can be retained for up to six semesters.
