Critical incident investigation underway after woman dies - Liverpool

A critical incident investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Sydney's south-west.

About 11.45pm on Friday 26 May 2023, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to a unit complex on Norfolk Street, Liverpool, following reports of a domestic dispute via an anonymous phone call.

About 3am on Saturday 27 May 2023, police attended the complex; however, were unable to locate the source of the report within the unit block.

Throughout the day, police continued to make inquiries to locate the source of the call.

About 8pm, officers were called to a unit on Norfolk Street, Liverpool, where they located the body of a 34-year-old woman inside.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (DV), contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (DV) and destroy or damage property (DV).

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 28 May 2023).

The man continues to assist police with their inquiries, as Liverpool City detectives and State Crime Command's Homicide Squad detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman's death under Strike Force Midian.

A critical incident team from Fairfield Police Area Command will investigate all the other circumstances surrounding the incident.

That investigation will be subject to independent review.
