[Member News] Waste Warriors initiative launched on Loch Lomond

A new 'Waste Warriors' campaign has been launched on and around Loch Lomond and supported by British Marine members, Cruise Loch Lomond.

Aimed at visitors to the area and supporting them to collect rubbish responsibly, the initiative has set up collection points at Cruise Loch Lomond. Loch Lomond passenger boat operators Cruise Loch Lomond will now be offering waste bags for visitors on theBen Lomond Hike and West Highland Way Rambler cruises.

The Waste Warriors initiative is run by Destination Arrochar Alps, with sponsors including Friends of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and Cruise Loch Lomond. The initiative, which also sees new visitor information points and map panels in the local area, is funded by a £90,000 grant from .

Cruise Loch Lomond Director. Fred Moore, said: 'We are delighted to be part of this initiative as we continue to build on our recent Silver accreditation for Green Tourism and as an exemplar business for the British Marine Green Blue environmental awareness campaign for our BlueHealth, Blue Space - Loch Lomond project.'

Cruise Loch Lomond was among the very first businesses to sign up to the partnership supporting the delivery of Giant Strides, Scotland's new Marine Tourism Strategy. James Stuart, Strategic Lead for Giant Strides, added: 'It is fantastic to see Cruise Loch Lomond involved in this initiative and working locally to enhance the tourism and recreational offer of the area to benefit the environment, visitors and local communities. This is the ethos behind our new strategy and we encourage more businesses to join in this approach - to work to build businesses which delight customers while also supporting local communities and environments.'
