The DA-BSWM on the Move

The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) XI initiated an activity titled "Orientation on DA MC 26, Series of 2022 and other Relevant Laws on Reclassification of Agricultural Lands to Non-Agricultural of the Local Government Units in Davao Region." This activity aims to promote awareness and cascade the appropriate procedure of land use reclassification pursuant to Memorandum Circular (MC) 54, Series of 1993, Joint HLRB (DSHUD), DAR, DA, DILG MC of 1995, and DA MC 26, Series of 2022.

Land is considerably a finite natural resource which has multiple uses on agriculture, residential, commercial, and industrial, as well as, biodiversity preservation. The role of the DA is to ensure that prime agricultural lands should be protected against irrational land use reclassification. Hence, the DA-BSWM has been invited to this activity to promote its advocacy that the integration of the SAFDZ into the Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUPs) of the Local Government Units (LGUs) is vital and the applicability of the DA MC relative hereto.

This activity is a great avenue for the DA to obtain first-hand information, including the issues and concerns among LGUs relevant to land use reclassification to continually develop a sound and holistic land use policies in the country vis-a-vis the LGU to learn the appropriate procedure in land use changes and reclassification.
