In 2022, 15,520 Visitors will Visit the Pangkalpinang Indonesian Tin Museum

PANGKALPINANG -- The Pangkalpinang Indonesian Tin Museum (MTI) noted that visits to the Museum throughout 2022 reached 15,520 people. The first tin museum in Indonesia managed by PT Timah has an attraction for domestic and international tourists.

The number of visits to MTI Pangkalpinang in 2022 will increase by 100 percent compared to last 2021 which reached 7,160 people. The increase in the number of visits was due to the slowing down of the Covid-19 pandemic case, so that MTI Pangkalpinang could open a museum for visitors.

"The number of visits in 2022 reached 15,520 people and this has increased 100 percent compared to last 2021," said Head of MTI Pangkalpinang, Taufik.

Visitors who came to MTI Pangkalpinang in 2022 included 8,714 students, while 269 people came from universities. There were 2,972 local tourists, 3,479 domestic tourists and 86 foreign tourists.

"Visitors to MTI Pangkalpinang in 2022 will be dominated by students from Kindergarten, Elementary School and others. Visiting students usually they are familiar with the history of tin and students who come not only from Pangkalpinang but also other Regencies," he said.

The Indonesian Tin Museum is an information center about the history of tin mining in Indonesia and Bangka Belitung has many attractions to visit. In addition, MTI Pangkalpinang is also a place for educational recreation.

The museum which is located on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Pangkalpinang City has 514 collections on tin mining such as tin mining equipment, types of tin blocks, means of transporting tin, dredger bowls, monitors, rocks and others.

When visiting MTI Pangkalpinang, visitors can see first-hand various collections such as the biomes of tin mining fragments during the Dutch colonial era, mock-ups of land mining and sea mining.

Not only that, there are also replicas and history of the Kota Kapur inscription, replicas of tin production dredgers and suction boats, tin block stamps produced by Hoofd Bereau-Banka Tin Winning (BTW) and various rocks.

In the Museum you can also try directly playing with colorful sand or what is known as Topographic 3D modeling. Apart from the history of tin mining, there is also a history gallery of muntok white pepper and Bangka Belitung cual cloth.

To increase the attractiveness of tourists, visitors can also try walking around historical sites in Pangkalpinang City by using the Oto Pownis.

A number of places that can be seen while touring with Pownis such as Panti Wangka, Bakti Timah Hospital, GPIB Maranatha, Dutch Cemetery, Wisma Timah Satoe, Jamik Mosque, Resident's House, Tamansari and Water Tower.
