News Release Date:
April 29, 2024

SAN JUAN, PR - Are you, or someone you know, 15 through 18 years old and looking for a challenging and exciting summer job? If so, you may be interested in working for the National Park Service as a member of the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) at San Juan National Historic Site. The YCC was established as a summer employment program for young men and women who work and learn together on projects that further the development and conservation of the natural and cultural resources of the United States, while developing an ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility. Applications are being accepted for the park's Youth Conservation Corps summer employment program from April 29 through May 6, 2024.  Participants will get paid to work, learn, and gain leadership skills. No prior experience is needed, just an eagerness to make a difference. As stewards of our public lands, we recognize the importance of fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership among the next generation. "We believe that every individual has the power to make a difference, and we invite all qualifying young adults to embrace the summer and seize the opportunity to grow! Join us for an unforgettable summer of work, where each day is a chance to learn, to contribute, and to make a difference in your public land," said Superintendent Angelita Alvino. The YCC session dates for San Juan NHS are June 3 - July 26, 2024. Participants will work on various projects to include building and maintaining trails, cleaning up buildings, painting of facilities, routine maintenance, and other special projects. Participants will do hard physical work. More information about the application process is available on the website.  The park opens every day with exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year.
