At the presidential session on 26 January, the President of the Republic appointed a new Ambassador to the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union and a non-resident Ambassador to Guatemala.
At its session on 25 January, the Government appointed State Under-Secretary for European Affairs Jori Arvonen as Counsellor for Foreign Affairs as of 1 September 2024. The President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Jori Arvonen to serve as Head of Mission at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU in Brussels as of 1 September 2024.
Arvonen will move to Brussels from the Prime Minister's Office, where he has served as State Under-Secretary for European Affairs since 2023.
Before that, Arvonen worked on matters related to the EU while serving at the Prime Minister's Office as State Under-Secretary for EU Affairs and Deputy Head of the Government Secretariat for EU Affairs in 2011-2021.
He has Master of Arts degree in International Affairs.
The President of the Republic appointed Ambassador Ari Mäki, Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Mexico, to serve as a non-resident Ambassador to Guatemala.
