Rachael Leslie has been appointed as Director of Public Health following the retirement of Dr Rupert Suckling earlier this year.

Rachael has been the Deputy Director of Public Health since 2021 and has acted up as Director of Public Health for the past 12 months.

Prior to joining City of Doncaster Council, Rachel worked in Consultant in Public Health roles in the West Midlands and the South West and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Rachael will continue to prioritise the health and wellbeing of residents and focus on the delivery of Public Health responsibilities.

Rachael said: "I am delighted to be able to continue leading public heath work in Doncaster. I am passionate about the role and the work that we are doing across Doncaster to reduce health inequalities and support residents with their wellbeing. As Director of Public Health, I will continue to engage with partners across the wider health system to work towards our shared goals for supporting Doncaster residents."

Damian Allen, Chief Executive at City of Doncaster Council, said: "Public Health plays a key part in delivering our priorities as a council. We are pleased that Rachael is now a permanent part of our leadership team to help drive forward our Great 8 Priorities, including building opportunities for healthier, happier, and longer lives for all."
