Filip Zubčić won another FIS World Cup Giant Slalom podium in Hinterstoder, Austria.
Filip started the first run with a starting number 6 and finished with +0.90 behind the leader Alexis Pinturault (FRA). After not so great upper part of the course Filip nailed it in the bottom part and left behind the leader in the Giant Slalom standings Slovenian Žan Kranjec and second placed in the standings Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR), who finished the first run in 6th place.
In the second run Filip just confirmed his great result and kept the second place. French skier Alexis Pinturault won the race with the time of 2:41.96 and Filip Zubčić was +0.45 behind. Third place went to Henrik Kristoffersen with the time of 2:42.68, +0.72 behind the winner.
Thanks to this result, Filip stayed third placed in the Giant Slalom standings with 368 points, 20 points less than GS standings second placed Pinturault and 26 points less than the currently leading Kristoffersen, who took the first place over from Žan Kranjec (SLO). Kranjec was 3rd in the first run but spoiled his result in the second finishing 13th.
By the end of the season there are two Giant Slaloms left and the race for the GS Crystal Globe is still on. Giant Slalom in Kranjska Gora is scheduled for March 14 followed by the Finals in Cortina d'Ampezzo from March 21.
