Health Center Voices on Medicaid Redetermination

Since the spring of 2023, when the federal government ended its pandemic-era policy of continuous enrollment in Medicaid, millions of people have lost their coverage in the process of "redetermining" their eligibility. Nearly half of Community Health Center patients rely on Medicaid coverage. In a recent report, NACHC found that 23% of health center Medicaid patients are estimated to have been unenrolled during the redetermination process.

As one of the many services they provide, health centers assist patients with signing up for Medicaid (and other public insurance). NACHC asked two Community Health Center leaders about how the Medicaid unwinding/redetermination process is affecting their patients and their centers and the strategies they're using to inform patients.
