After the cancellation of the Finals and the last races of the Women's and Men's World Cup in Äre and Kranjska Gora due to the outbreak and situation with the Novel Coronavirus a turbulent season 2019-2020 has come to an end.
While it's not the way anyone wanted the season to end, and everybody - including the racers - were hoping to witness the final battles, it's now time for the athletes to celebrate their achievements after a tough and intense season.
Similar as the season, Croatian alpine skiers had ups and downs. Filip Zubčić shines on the top with his sensational Giant Slalom achievements, winning 3 podiums in the FIS World Cup races (one victory in Naeba (JPN) and two times 2nd place in Adelboden (SUI) and Hinterstoder (AUT)) plus three more Top 10 results (Beaver Creek 8th, Alta Badia 10th, Garmisch Partenkirchen 4th). Along with that he made a big progress in slalom, finishing among Top 20 in the World Cup races. All these results put him in the 3rd place of the GS overall standings and 14th Overall.
After some good results in the first World Cup races of the season our slalom team (Istok Rodeš, Elias Kolega and Matej Vidović) failed to keep the form from the last season. We hope they will do it in the next. Samuel Kolega, our youngest gun made some good results in the FIS category.
Leona Popović and Ida Štimac had repatriated season after the surgeries recovery and they are back in the competition rhythm.
The World Cup has a New Champion - Aleksander Aamodt Kilde from Norway, winner of the big Crystal Globe and Italy can be proud of the first Italian women's Overall in the history conquered by Federica Brignone.
