On 7 September, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau attended, as a guest of honour, the annual meeting of Romanian ambassadors. He also held political consultations with the head of Romania's diplomacy Bogdan Aurescu.

During the conference of ambassadors, Minister Rau took part in a plenary session devoted to the impact the war in Ukraine has had on the security of NATO's eastern flank. In his address, the chief of the Polish MFA underlined the need to continue to actively support Ukraine in order to enable it to repel attacks by the Russian aggressor and to regain full possession of its occupied territory. He also stressed that it is necessary to further reinforce sanctions against Russia and to fully implement the NATO Madrid Summit arrangements. In this context, Minister Rau highlighted the importance of close cooperation between Poland and Romania, two states bound by a strategic partnership and at the same time the biggest countries at NATO's eastern flank. The plenary session ended with Minister Rau taking questions from Romanian ambassadors about Poland's assessment of the key issues on the European and international agenda.

While in Bucharest, the minister also held bilateral consultations with his Romanian counterpart. The talks covered bilateral cooperation, including the implementation of the 2022-2026 Action Plan adopted during this March's Polish-Romanian Intergovernmental Consultations, and pivotal matters related to the Russian aggression against Ukraine, security policy, and regional cooperation.
