It is expected that the new traffic signal configuration will be fully operationally bySaturday night.

Beginning at 5a.m. on Saturday, the contractor will be implementing two phases of temporary street closures using the assistance of City Traffic Police, detour signs and variable message boards:

The work involves switching over from the old traffic signal equipment to the newly installed traffic signal equipment and removing the old equipment at the intersection. This is a crucial step in improving motorist and pedestrian safety and aligns with the City's Vision Zero Goals, emphasizing its significance in our ongoing efforts to create safer streets for everyone.

This work is being completed by James J. Anderson Construction.  Overall project construction costs are valued about $4.5M and are being financed with PennDOT State Grants.

While the Streets Department will make every effort to minimize disruption to traffic, residents are urged to plan ahead and use alternative routes or allow for increased travel times when traveling in these areas.  The Streets Department thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation as we work to improve city streets
