Hurricane season is from June 1 through Nov. 30. It is important to be thoroughly prepared and according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), residents are encouraged to have at least seven days of supplies. Additionally, if you are unsure of what to do when disaster strikes, make a plan for yourself and your family.

Remember some important tips when making your emergency supply kit.

Be prepared for flooding, especially if you are in a low-lying area, near water or downstream from a dam.

Prepare a family emergency plan that will help you respond to any emergency situation.
