Parking rate, policy changes in Dickson St. Entertainment District

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Starting Monday, Nov. 27, the City of Fayetteville will implement several changes to its parking policies in the Dickson Street Entertainment District, including new parking rates.

These changes are being made in close coordination with the opening of the new West Avenue Parking Deck, which opened Nov. 10.

Along with new rates for City managed on-street, deck and surface lot parking, the City is converting to a pay-by-license plate system within the entertainment district, going away from the current pay-by-space number system. Also, the City is removing the option to purchase long-term parking for on-street parking; however, "all day" parking will be available at parking decks and surface lots.

The City's employee discount program and no-cost residential permit program for the entertainment district will remain.

Parking Manager Justin Clay said the changes are being made to provide "consistent and convenient parking options that support our thriving downtown and ensure parking availability - for businesses, residents and visitors."

Changes to parking rates in both "core" and "secondary" on-street areas are being made to be consistent with current demand, Clay said. Paid parking hours for core areas, which include stretches of W. Dickson St. and N. West Ave., will now begin at 8 a.m. New rates for core areas are as follows:

  • Sunday - Wednesday: $1/hour, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Thursday - Saturday: $1/hour, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.; $1.50/hour, 6 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Free parking hours for secondary on-street areas will be extended from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., so that secondary on-street will be free every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and then $0.50 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Secondary areas include stretches of N. Church Ave., W. Spring St. and W. Meadow St.
