Seattle City (spot)Light: Aldo Nardiello, Business Partner Manager

The Basics
Years of Service: Three and a half
Division: People & Culture
Role: I have been in my current role for about six months now. The Business Partners program is a new group within People & Culture that connects the resources and expertise of People & Culture with the rest of City Light. I am a part of the team that serves as the initial point of contact for People & Culture matters, and we work to assist and guide our colleagues through the various processes/programs.

Background
Hometown:
Albany, N.Y.
Alma Mater: Florida Gulf Coast University and Michigan State University
Discipline/Trade of Study: I received a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry and interdisciplinary studies from Florida Gulf Coast University. I then earned a master's degree in human resources and labor relations, as well as a law degree from Michigan State University.
Tell us about your family: My wife and I welcomed a little boy this past September. He is a bunch of fun, but I do miss my sleep! We also have a dog and a few cats. The rest of my immediate family lives in southwest Florida. We really could not be further apart in the continental United States, but thankfully there are planes and video chat.

Just for Fun
Where do you live and what's something you love about the area?I live in Issaquah. I love how it is just a quick highway drive from downtown Seattle, but at the same time has that quiet, small-town feel. I also appreciate how we are surrounded by mountains. Prior to moving to Issaquah, my wife and I had spent the last 15 years in Florida, Michigan, and Indiana. Despite their many charms, all three states are nearly completely flat. Mountains were a welcomed change of scenery.

What are some of your favorite activities/hobbies? Prior to the baby and pre-pandemic, my wife and I went to the movie theater nearly every weekend. I'm also a huge supporter of multiple sports teams and participate in numerous fantasy leagues. I never really got over my childhood obsession with dinosaurs either, so it is not uncommon for me to be watching a documentary or 'Jurassic Park' for the millionth time.

What is your favorite travel memory/experience? Two summers ago, my wife and I loaded our dog into the car and took a road trip to the Southwest. We (dog included) had spent time in the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, and obviously the Northwest United States, but none of us had ever been to the southwest before. We went all over the place, but the highlight was certainly the Grand Canyon. I am not even going to attempt to describe how incredible it is, but I encourage everyone to see it at least once!

What brought/attracted you to City Light? City Light's mission and values resonated with me and that is what initially drew my attention. However, after further researching City Light, I learned it was part of a rapidly changing industry with ample opportunities for career growth and development. At that point, I was sold!
