Stanadyne’s 2P DCR Fuel Pump Wins A 2024 Automotive News PACE Award

The two-piston diesel common rail fuel pump was selected from a field of highly competitive finalists this year

Jacksonville, North Carolina - August 30, 2024 - Stanadyne's two-piston diesel common rail fuel pump (2P DCR) innovation was named a 2024 Automotive News PACE Award winner at the awards ceremony on April 29, 2024, at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. The prestigious award recognizes automotive suppliers for superior innovation, technological advancement, and business performance. Stanadyne earned an Automotive News PACE Award following an extensive review by an independent panel of judges, including a comprehensive written application and a virtual site visit.

"It is an honor to be among the handful of innovators receiving a coveted Automotive News PACE Award," said Stanadyne Chief Engineer Srinu Gunturu. "It is inspiring to have our commitment to enabling clean propulsion through engine innovation recognized by our industry."

Stanadyne Chief Engineer Srinu Gunturu accepted the 2024 PACE Award on behalf of the company.

The company's innovative, high-pressure 2P DCR fuel pump offers a competitive edge with its unique and robust patented eccentric drive pumping operation. Designed for unmatched durability against low-lubricity fuels and demanding service life, the Stanadyne pump delivers power and performance with best-in-class packaging. Its low warranty rate, high-pressure and high-flow capabilities, ultra-fast response times, and compliance with the most stringent emissions standards, makes it a robust solution for original equipment manufacturers, as well as for the aftermarket.

"For 29 years, the PACE program has celebrated cutting-edge innovations that have shaped the automotive industry on a global level," said Automotive News Executive Editor Jamie Butters. "The companies on this year's list have pioneered significant technologies that will continue to propel the industry forward."

The 2P DCR fuel pump features a compact and modular design for easy integration and has a quiet sound signature due to its smooth drive technology. Its low part count makes it easy to build and its biofuel and low-lubricity fuel compatibility make it ready for the renewable fuels revolution currently under way for commercial, heavy-duty, and off-highway vehicles.

"Stanadyne has a proud tradition of engine innovation dating back to 1952 with the introduction of the world's first Diesel Rotary Pump," said Gunturu. "It greatly improved the efficiency, power, and practicality of diesel engines with the new fuel distribution technology, allowing diesel engines to become the primary choice for heavy equipment and machinery. Today, our 2P DCR pump is delivering cost-effective decarbonization gains by addressing hard-to-electrify applications and enabling alternative fuel use across a wider range of vehicles and markets."
