GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan established Military Spouse Appreciation Day to honor the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of military spouses. This recognition, which remains as important today, demonstrates the role of a military spouse being the epitome of grace, resilience, strength, and devotion, thriving in the active environment of military life.
2. Friday, 10 May 2024 has been designated as Military Spouse Appreciation Day. As we celebrate this special day, all Marines and Sailors are encouraged to show their sincere gratitude to their spouse for their unwavering support and dedication. Additionally, I encourage leaders at all levels to take advantage of Military Spouse Appreciation Day to formally recognize the steadfastness of your Marine's and Sailor's spouses.
3. My wife, Trish, and I offer our sincere appreciation to all Marine Corps and Navy spouses serving with our Marines. Thank you for your commitment and support of our Corps, Marines, Sailors, and your communities. There is no mistaking that the bond between you and your Marine or Sailor is a strategic element of what makes the Corps ever ready to answer our Nation's call.
