Tomsk Polytechnic University is developing cooperation with academic and research organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan. They are particularly interested in TPU's competencies in chemical technology.
Recently, Tomsk Polytechnic University has signed a bilateral memorandum of cooperation with the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, a leading chemical engineering university in the Republic of Uzbekistan and Central Asia. In late fall 2024, TPU representatives as members of the Tomsk Oblast delegation paid a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, where they discussed mutually interesting areas of cooperation with the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan.
"Our partners from the Republic of Uzbekistan highly rated TPU's competencies in chemical technology, both in terms of personnel training and research projects. This area is currently gaining momentum in Uzbekistan, including both basic research and applied projects of high technology readiness level in chemical engineering and advanced materials. As a result of our joint effort, we have updated the cooperation roadmap with the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology. One of the key areas outlined in the roadmap is TPU's participation in setting up the Advanced Engineering School and the mirror Chemical Technology Laboratory at the institute," says Marina Trusova, coordinator of cooperation between TPU and the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology and director of TPU's Research School of Chemistry and Applied Biomedical Sciences.
Partners from the Republic of Uzbekistan expressed interest in TPU's competencies in training personnel at different levels, from joint master's degree programs to advanced training and professional retraining of current staff.
"Tomsk Polytechnic University ranks first in Russia in Chemical Engineering according to the RAEX subject rating, which speaks about its high standard of education. In addition, the university has a proven track record of professional training and retraining of SIBUR Holding's current employees in the Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs. Moreover, we have previously conducted advanced training courses in these areas in the Republic of Uzbekistan for our industrial partner, which was also highly commended by our colleagues," adds Marina Trusova.
The most promising potential joint R&D projects include research in ecology, waste recycling, including polymer waste, chemical engineering, and chemical process simulation. In addition, the partners evince interest in TPU's competencies in nuclear medicine and power engineering.
