On November 21, 2022, Palm Beach County and Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County welcomed the Green Family into their new home in Belle Glade, Florida. In October, a fire broke out in the Green home. While thankful that everyone got out safely, all the family's belongings were lost. Ms. Green, who works for the Palm Beach County School District, purchased their new home with the assistance of the Palm Beach County Department of Housing & Economic Development (HED) and Habitat for Humanity. On August 17, 2021, the County through HED approved $690,000 in funding towards the construction of five single homes including the Green home.

"Today was an absolutely fantastic way to end my eight years as the Glades area Commissioner" stated Commissioner Melissa McKinlay as she handed over the keys to a brand new home for the Green family. "Seeing all those grandchildren running around the backyard and the proud smiles on Ms. Green's face was a great way to start the holiday season. Making sure families have healthy homes to live in has been a priority of mine and the County Commission. Today we saw dreams come true and thanks to Habitat of Humanity, Palm Beach County, the City of Belle Glade and so many partners."
