HE&R Celebrates AANHPI Heritage Month 2024

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month 2024

This communication was sent to our Hershey Entertainment & Resorts(HE&R) team members to kick off Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month across the company.

----

Throughout May, we celebrate the rich and diverse contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities in the United States.

This year's AANHPI Heritage Month theme is "Advancing Leaders Through Innovation." According to the Federal Asian-Pacific American Council (FAPAC), "Innovation, resilience, and a pioneering spirit are cornerstones of American leadership. AANHPI leaders have made lasting contributions to our Nation's economic prosperity, technological advancements, and social/political change through their ingenuity and creativity while navigating significant cultural and systemic barriers."

Co-hosted by a father-daughter duo, the family-friendly podcast Asian American History 101delves into rich AANHPI historical narratives and features captivating interviews with contemporary AANHPI individuals who are innovative leaders in their respective fields of expertise: authors, doctors, scholars, chefs, public speakers, musicians, policymakers, and more.

By exploring themes including creativity and inventiveness, these conversations emphasize the significance of lived experiences that contribute to the shaping of one's identity and assist audiences in developing a deeper understanding of the global influence and impact of the AANHPI community. Some notable recent interviews:

  • Illustrator and cartoonist Nidhi Chanani, creator of the graphic novel Super Boba Cafe
  • Mental health professional Dr. Noel Ramirez, Director and Founder of Mango Tree Counseling and Consulting located in Philadelphia, PA
  • Professional speaker Dr. Michael Soon Lee, fifth-generation Chinese American and actor, producer, and real estate broker
  • Educators Yoon Pak and Sharon Lee, key leaders helping with the implementation of the TEAACH Act (Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History)

We encourage you to follow along on the HE&R Facebook, and HersheyJobs Instagramaccounts as we celebrate and share the stories and careers of HE&R's innovative team members throughout May as part of the ongoing celebration of AANHPI Heritage Month.
