The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Malta, Rashid Abdulla O.Sh. Al-Dehaimi, paid a courtesy visit on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, David Agius.

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar welcomed Malta's friendly relations with Qatar. Deputy Speaker Agius emphasised on the need to strengthen the present relations between the two countries and welcomed the work that has already been carried out in order to establish the Malta-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Ambassador Al-Dehaimi gave an overview of his plans to intensify bilateral relations between Malta and Qatar, especially through the conclusion of agreements and memoranda in different fields of cooperation, to which Deputy Speaker Agius offered all the necessary support towards this goal.

Ambassador Al-Dehaimi and Deputy Speaker Agius discussed how last year's FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 brought prosperity and an increase in tourism for Qatar. Ambassador Al-Dehaimi expressed the wish to have this momentum maintained, specifically through closer collaboration between Malta and Qatar.​
