Colorado Must Pass Transit Services Bill

DENVER - A crucial bill has been introduced in the Colorado Legislature establishing millions of dollars in annual funding to improve transit service such as more frequent buses and trains in Colorado, which would cut pollution and expand transportation options. SB24-230would impose a fee on oil and gas production in Colorado and would establish sustainable funding to build a more reliable public transportation network.

The following is a statement from Alana Miller, Colorado Policy Director at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council):

"This bill delivers what Colorado needs: a dedicated, substantial, and annual investment in improving public transit service that will deliver enormous benefits for Coloradans in clearer skies and healthier air, buses and trains arriving more frequently, and reductions in the threats from climate change. The legislature should seize this tremendous opportunity to fund transit service through a fee on oil and gas production in Colorado-linking a key source of climate and ozone pollution with a key solution."
