Ad Valvas Editor-in-chief Marieke Schilp is leaving the VU Amsterdam and will retire early as of 31 December 2023. She has led the Ad Valvas editorial team for over 20 years.

Marieke Schilp: "It has been a great privilege working for the editorial team of Ad Valvas. I look back on an interesting and dynamic period and I am proud of what we have achieved as an independent, journalistic platform of the VU Amsterdam. Over the past 20 years, the online landscape and the rules of the game have changed enormously. I have seen how we - as editors of Ad Valvas - have been able to respond to this. I thank all my colleagues for their cooperation and the great time I had with them."

Gijsbert Siertsema, director of Communication & Marketing of VU Amsterdam: "We thank Marieke for her commitment to Ad Valvas and her great involvement over the past 20-plus years and we wish her a very nice retirement."

Robin Uitham has been appointed new editor-in-chief from 1 January 2024. Gijsbert Siertsema: "In Robin Uitham we have found a good successor for Marieke. Robin is an experienced, all-round journalist. She has previously worked for, among others, De Volkskrant, ANP and Intermediair, and for various other magazines and broadcasters. We warmly welcome Robin as the new editor-in-chief of Ad Valvas and wish her every success and pleasure in her new role."
