Venterra signs Military Covenant

Date: 2022-11-22

Venterra Group Plc, the offshore wind energy services business is delighted to announce that it has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, joining many other companies from the sector in highlighting that the offshore wind industry is a 'forces friendly' industry.

The energy services company and six of its member companies have committed to a package of support for those serving and for ex-forces personnel and their families. It includes recruitment efforts to support ex-servicemen and women considering a career in energy, as well as continuing to support employees from their member companies who are already members of the Reserve Force.

Four of Venterra's member companies already employ service veterans working on projects across the UK and the signing of the Covenant is a way to formalise the company's pledge to ensure that all armed services personnel and their families are treated with fairness.

Rob Jewkes, Venterra's Chief Executive Officer was joined at the signing ceremony at the Ministry of Defence by Lieutenant General Richard Wardlaw, Chief of Defence, Logistics and Support.

Rob Jewkes said: "The career opportunities in the renewable energy sector are expected to be significant as the country works to reach net zero by 2050. At Venterra we are proud to be a forces-friendly organisation and want to continue to support those working with us now and in the future from the services community. In our experience many servicemen and women possess transferable skills and qualities which have led to a successful transition into the industry."

Kevin Bryant, who is in the process of completing more than 10 years in the Royal Engineers and has joined one of Venterra's member companies, UXO specialists Ordtek, said: "I'm excited for the opportunity to be part of Ordtek, and I look forward to utilising the skills and experience gained in the Military to further the success of the company."

Lt Gen Richard Wardlaw said: "Offshore wind is one of the most exciting industries to work in. For a growing company such as Venterra to sign the Covenant and its associated pledges sends an important message, both inside and outside the company, that the armed forces are respected and valued. I am delighted to welcome both Venterra and its member companies and thank them on taking up this initiative.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment from the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly and not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives as a result of their military service."
