Prague bourse grows for fifth week in row

Prague, April 5 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) strengthened for the fifth week in a row, its headline PX index gaining 0.68 percent in four days to reach 1,525.51 points in the shortened week after Easter, according to data from the bourse's website.

Erstes Bank shares rose the most, while pharmacy chain Pilulka recorded the biggest depreciation.

In the previous week, the PX index gained 1.6 percent.

"Out of four trading days, the stock market rose on two of them, on Tuesday and Thursday," Wood & Company broker Vladimir Vavra told CTK.

"The stock exchange strengthened for the fifth week in a row. During the past week, it also managed to hold on to its record highs since the end of June 2008," he added.

Erste shares firmed by 1.2 percent to Kc1,054.50, the fifth week of growth for the company.

Komercni banka shares rose by 0.95 percent to Kc848, and Moneta Money Bank shares grew by 0.78 percent to Kc102.80.

Beverage maker Kofola shares gained 0.37 percent to Kc271.

The biggest loser of the week was Pilulka, which weakened by 4.65 percent to Kc205.

Solar power plant builder Photon Energy wrote off 0.88 percent to close the week at Kc45.

Tobacco company Philip Morris did not fare well either, weakening by 0.76 percent to Kc15,700.

Losers also included arms maker Colt, which fell by 0.33 percent to Kc608, and power utility CEZ, which wrote off 0.24 percent to Kc835.
