Rep. Panetta’s Statement on Iran’s Attacks on Israel

"The United States must continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel in defense of its democracy. The recent attacks by Iran, and continued attacks by its proxies, are examples of the constant threats and challenges faced by the people of Israel. Nevertheless, the alliance between the United States and Israel remains ironclad, as our military forces work in close coordination to intercept nearly all Iranian drones and missiles launched in this assault and we continue to fortify the defenses of our democratic ally. This is a clarifying juncture for American leadership and exactly why Speaker Mike Johnson must put the Senate Supplemental Aid package on the floor of the House of Representatives for a vote as soon as possible. The bill, which passed the Senate with 70 votes, Democrats and Republicans, would easily pass Congress and be sent to the President for his immediate signature. The Speaker can no longer shirk his responsibility with an overwhelming amount of Democrat and Republican Congressmembers who are ready and willing to vote for this much-needed assistance. Together, we must rise to this challenge to ensure a secure future for Israel and our democratic allies around the globe."
