Football aside, advertisements are often one of the main attractions for viewers of the Super Bowl. This year featured ads of many different themes, which CNN analyzed with help from Newhouse advertising associate professor, Brian Sheehan. For Sheehan, one particular theme resonates as the best way to reach audiences.
'This year, if you're going to make a statement, I think comedy is the best way to do it,' Sheehan said. 'Taking it seriously is just depressing to the American public.'
