Board of Firefighting Personnel Standards & Education (BFPSE) Public Hearing/Meeting

Description:

Under IC 4-22-2-23, notice is hereby given that on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10 a.m. EST, in Conference Room 4 of Wabash Hall in the Indiana Government Center South, located at 302 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204, the Board of Fire Personnel Standards and Education will hold a public hearing on the repeal and replacement of 655 IAC, the rules and regulations of the Board of Fire Personnel Standards and Education.

The purpose of this hearing is to receive comments from the public prior to consideration of adoption of these rules by the Board of Fire Personnel Standards and Education. All interested persons are invited and will be given reasonable opportunity to express their views concerning the proposed new rule.

If the Board of Fire Personnel Standards and Education does not receive substantive comments during the public comment period or public hearing, the rule may be adopted with text that is the same as or does not substantially differ from the proposed rule.

Copies of these rules are now on file at the Board of Fire Personnel Standards and Education, 302 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204, and are open for public inspection and copying.

Background:

The Board of Firefighting Personnel Standards & Education (BFPSE) has the responsibility for establishing the rules and regulations for voluntary training for fire service and, for some specialized training, non-fire service personnel in Indiana, including setting criteria for certification of firefighters at different levels of education within the state.
