KSU Hosts Soccer to C-Suite Conference

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State Athletics Chief Operating Officer and several soccer student-athletes co-hosted the Soccer to C-Suite event alongside local anesthesiologist, Greg Charlop, at the Carmicheal Student Center on Wednesday.
Charlop is the founder of Soccer to C-Suite, a nationwide conference series, book and corporate workshop program dedicated to girls' physical and mental health. Charlop is also the co-founder of the Women's Sports Forum. His upcoming book "From Soccer to C-Suite" is scheduled for a release later this year.
"I just want to thank Greg Charlop for reaching out to me about hosting this event, Soccer to C-Suite, on our campus at KSU as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX," said Smith Jones. "It is really important as a woman leader here at Kennesaw State to understand and bridge the community. We want to be intentional about our social impact and make sure we are building good partnerships. This is a fantastic event and opportunity to have people across all types of industries to be on our campus."

The conference's goal is to help launch collaborations, non-profits and social impact organizations to help local children. The event featured community leaders from around the area speaking on the importance of youth sports for girls and discussed topics on how to engage more girls in sports.

"I couldn't be happier to have hosted and have our student-athletes and interns be a part of this. It was also great to be able to share with everyone about the great things we are doing here at Kennesaw State to advance all our student-athletes in their respective majors and degree interests," said Smith Jones. "The key part of my role was to make sure that they understood that we were here to partner with them, to help promote the meaningful work they do and to invite them back to campus at some point. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the professionals at our home games.

"Also, it was great to give them access to our student population as the future workforce. A lot of the student-athletes and students that were able to attend got a chance to connect with people that eventually will employ them or give them internship opportunities. I think that we represented the Gold Standard today and I am looking forward to the future of what happens on campus."

Kennesaw State soccer student-athletes Morgan Thomas and joined Smith Jones at the conference today and spoke on the importance of the event.

"It was a really great experience," said Thomas. "It allowed us to be surrounded by women who showed their support and encouraged other girls and young women to pursue a sport. It was a great opportunity to network and learn how we can use our sport to propel us into a successful career beyond athletics."

"I enjoyed listening to all the passionate people coming together to help girls use soccer and sports to succeed in their future", said Swinton. "I was inspired learning about how each person contributed to creating new opportunities for girls every day."
