Brush Pile Burning: Notice to active burn permit holders in Riley County

Brush Pile Burning: Notice to active burn permit holders in Riley County

With snow on the ground today (3/26) and favorable conditions expected tomorrow (3/27), these could be the final days brush pile burning will be allowed in Riley County until May. The current weather forecast outlook does NOT look favorable for outdoor burning Thursday (3/28) through the weekend.

Please note, the State of Kansas Flint Hills Smoke Management Plan does not allow brush pile burning in the month of April.

Agricultural burning will still be possible during the month of April as weather conditions allow.

Riley County Fire District #1 in collaboration with Riley County Emergency Management will continue to evaluate weather conditions each day and post notices when burning is not allowed. Make sure you are signed up for Everbridge Alerts so you get the most up to date information.
