Catholicos of All Armenians received Iran's newly-appointed extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador
07 August, 2023On Aug 7, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, in Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin received Mehdi Sobhani, I.R. of Iran's newly-appointed extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the R. of Armenia.
His Holiness congratulated the Iranian Ambassador wishing him success and prolific activity. Pointing to the historical ties between two people and the countries as well as the existing cooperation, His Holiness highly admired the attitude and the solidarity shown by the I.R. of Iran toward Armenia during the hard time in the war and post war period.
Catholicos of All Armenians expressed His contentment in the manners of the Iranian authorities showing to the Iranian-Armenian community in Iran and the special care for the Armenian historical and spiritual heritages in Iran.
His Holiness condemned the burning of Qoran and pointed to the criminal activities of the authorities of Azerbaijan pertaining to Armenian cultural and spiritual values.
The Iranian Ambassador in his turn pointing to his future plans as Ambassador, stressed the role of the inter-religious dialogue in expanding the relations of two countries, Mr.Sobhani also underlined the importance of peaceful settlement of the disputes in the region.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on collaboration between the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the I.R. of Iran, underlying the cultural sphere, holding religious conferences and the dialogue.
