Lawn Update

The Village of Flossmoor had been suspending its ordinance regarding grass and vegetation maintenance since the April 15 Board of Trustees' meeting, as the Board considered the No Mow May trend for the Village. At its meeting last night, trustees decided unanimously to not move forward with No Mow May, instead encouraging residents to help pollinators by planting flowers and native plants, and by reducing the amount of mowing they may typically do in spring, but keeping grass no higher than 5 inches. Beginning Tuesday, May 7, the Village will begin issuing notices to homes with overgrown lawns and vegetation. Homeowners are typically given five days to remedy, which will allow the longer lawns at least until Sunday, May 12. Violation tickets will begin to be issued on Monday, May 13.
