Take the lead! Become a National River Cleanup Day site coordinator today.

Did you know every year, Americans create 268 million tons of trash? Some of that trash ends up in our local waterways, eventually reaching San Francisco and Monterey bays. With your help, we could greatly reduce the amount of trash polluting our county's rivers and streams.

Last year alone, volunteers picked up 53,437 pounds of trash from waterways in Santa Clara County. Now's your chance to make a difference! The Creek Connections Action Group is looking for site coordinators to help rally volunteers for the upcoming National River Cleanup Day on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 9 a.m. to noon.

As a site coordinator, you will be in charge of one creek cleanup site. Your job will be to rally up the troops (such as Boy/Girl Scouts, church groups, neighborhood associations, schools, companies, any individual, etc.), locate a creek section to clean, and collect volunteer registration information. We will help you with everything, so no prior experience is necessary.

A one-hour mandatory site coordinator training meeting will also take place one week before the cleanup. At this meeting, you will receive all your supplies FREE of charge (gloves, trash bags, sunscreen, bug repellent, first aid kit, etc.) for all your registered volunteers.

If you'd like to host a cleanup site, complete the online registration form.
