Keio Vice-President Tsuchiya Participates in RENKEI Health Workshop

April 5, 2024

From March 18 to 20, the University of Southampton, which is located in the U.K., hosted a health workshop by the Japan-UK Research and Education Network for Knowledge Economy Initiative (RENKEI). Keio Vice-President Motohiro Tsuchiya and Rita Chuang, a doctoral student at the Graduate School of Media and Governance, attended the workshop.

Over the course of the three-day workshop, researchers in various fields from RENKEI member universities in the U.K. and Japan were divided into groups where they presented their research which mainly focused on the issue of aging populations. Researchers from both countries were highly engaged in discussions about how they could collaborate to tackle challenges they face in trying to prolong healthy life expectancy and build healthy societies.

Vice-President Tsuchiya also attended the RENKEI Steering Committee Meeting held on March 20.

A similar workshop is scheduled to be hosted by Keio University at the Tsuruoka Town Campus of Keio (TTCK) in the 2024 academic year.

RENKEI is a Japan-UK university partnership program. In addition to Keio University, other member universities from Japan include Kyushu University, Tohoku University, Ritsumeikan University, and Osaka University. Member universities from the U.K. include the University of Edinburgh, the University of Southampton, Durham University, Newcastle University, the University of Leeds, and the University of Liverpool.
