On February 17, Zhang Donggang, council chair of the Renmin University of China (RUC), met with Song Yonghua, Rector of the University of Macau (UM), engaging in an in-depth exchange on promoting practical cooperation between the two universities.
RUC has always attached great importance to the cooperation and exchange with Macau, actively providing intellectual support and talent for the economic and social advancement of Macau and the development of the Greater Bay Area. UM is an important partner of RUC. The two universities worked closely in a number of areas, including teaching and research, student exchange programs, and academic exchanges. Zhang Donggang hoped that, with their respective advantages, RUC and UM will continue to expand the scope of cooperation, improving the quality of higher education and contributing to the development of the Greater Bay Area.
Song Yonghua expressed his gratitude toward RUC's strong support for UM. He pointed out that, under the principle of "one country, two systems", UM facilitates strategies that stimulate development through education, science, innovation and talent while participating in the construction of the Greater Bay Area. Song hoped that RUC, being a leading university in the field of humanities and social sciences, will continue to support the development of UM and strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two sides, allowing Macau to better integrate into the modernization process of China and serve as an internationally-influential link between Portuguese-speaking countries.
Wang Ruibing, Director of Global Affairs of the University of Macau, Du Peng, Vice President of RUC, and directors of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office also attended the meeting.
