Ambassadors of Kazakhstan and Bosnia and Herzegovina present letters of credentials

Ambassador Altay Kulginov of Kazakhstan and Ambassador Bojan Šošić of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented their letters of credentials to President Alar Karis in Kadriorg today.

In his meeting with the Kazakh ambassador, the head of state stressed Kazakhstan's importance as a partner to Estonia. "Our pasts are marked out by similar experiences, and we understand each other," he remarked. "That is a good basis for strong cooperation."

President Karis acknowledged the reforms that Kazakhstan has undertaken and confirmed Estonia's support for further cooperation, particularly in the field of education. He also thanked Kazakhstan for its efforts in observing sanctions imposed on Russia.

The head of state expressed his condolences to the Kazakh people for the suffering caused by recent floods, which were the worst the country has seen in 80 years. He also urged Kazakhstan to remain steadfast in its support of Ukraine.

In his meeting with the Bosnian ambassador, President Karis spoke of closer bilateral relations, as reflected in the opening of Estonia's first honorary consulate this coming autumn in Sarajevo.

The head of state acknowledged Bosnia and Herzegovina for its commencement of accession negotiations with the EU. "Estonia has always backed the integration of the Western Balkans with the EU, as well as stronger cooperation with NATO and the EU in the region," he said. "I encourage you to press ahead with your reforms, our own experience of which we will be happy to share with you."

President Karis thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for its help to date in supporting Ukraine and said that such concerted efforts must continue. He also spoke with the ambassador about Russian influence in the Western Balkans and around the world.

The Kazakh ambassador resides in Tallinn. The Bosnian ambassador is resident in Stockholm.
