Hoeven and Senate Colleagues Reintroduce Full Faith and Credit Act

09.22.21

WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today joined Senators Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Pat Toomey (R-Penn.) in reintroducing the Full Faith and Credit Act. This legislation ensures the federal government does not default on its debt and prioritizes funding for our military, veterans and seniors if the Democrats fail to raise or suspend the federal debt ceiling.

"We owe it to the American taxpayer to use the regular appropriations process to cut waste and reduce federal spending," said Hoeven. "Rather than rubber stamping a raising of the debt ceiling at a time when Democrats continue to push forward with plans to spend trillions more in taxpayer dollars, the Full Faith and Credit Act will help ensure the federal government does not default on its debt while making sure that critical programs remain funded without delay."

In addition to Hoeven, Scott and Toomey, the legislation is cosponsored by Senators Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and John Barrasso (R-Wyo.).
