City’s Department of Utilities soon will be performing critical infrastructure maintenance in these areas

The Department of Utilities soon will begin maintenance work along critical infrastructure in the City's flood control system.

This maintenance will be similar to the critical infrastructure work the City has performed in the past and is expected to take several weeks to complete.

Work will soon be performed at Elder, Florin, and Magpie creeks, the Haggin Oaks Detention Basin, the South Sacramento Drainage Canal, and the I-80 North Ditch.

The work performed will include vegetation management, levee repairs, removing debris from flowlines, removing debris blocking service roads, removing debris scattered throughout rip rap rock, and repairing gates and fencing.

Utilities staff are working closely with the City Manager's Office, City Attorney's Office and the Department of Community Response to ensure the safety and well-being of City staff and those camping in impacted areas.

The Department of Community Response will be coordinating with local service providers to perform outreach and connect people with services.
