Grand Cayman Under Hurricane Warning

What does a Warning Mean?

Storm conditions could begin within 36 hours.

As residents are out and about finalising their hurricane readiness, it is important to remember to:

  • write down emergency phone numbers and keep them stored in your phones and emergency supply kits
  • prepare an emergency supply kit with medications and snacks in the event you have to be urgently evacuated
  • double check important documents are stowed away safely
  • identify the nearest shelter and different routes you can take to get there from your home if you are riding out the storm at home
  • pet owners should also pre-identify pet-friendly shelters and
  • Boats should be docked safely or removed from the waters and battened down

This is the time to take refuge and make final decisions about where you will ride out the storm.

Stay off the road ways and away from the shoreline until an All Clear is given.

It is important to remember a warning remains in effect until the storm has passed or is no longer a threat.
